Organisation profile:

One of the most prominent challenges our society faces in the 21st century is to secure food provision to sustain our growing world population in a sustainable way without compromising our next generations. Both biotic (e.g. pests, deseases) and abiotic (e.g. drought, suboptimal temperatures, suboptimal light conditions, … ) factors can cause severe reductions in our global primary production. These stress conditions can seriously endanger our food security and go hand in hand with the ongoing climate changes. Therefore the KU Leuven research group for Sustainable Crop Production&Protection at the Technology Campus Geel focuses on biotic and abiotic stressors in order to secure and augment crop production now and in the future.
