The Applied Mechanics and Energy Conversion Section also contains the Centre for Nuclear Engineering.

The research activities of the group are situated in the following areas : - Simulation of thermal industrial processes and systems - Heat pumps : design and applications. - Heat transfer : boiling and condensation, augmentation techniques, measurement techniques. - Heat exchangers optimization : compact gas-gas heat exchangers, air heaters, heat storage engines. - Explosion safety. - Internal combustion engines. - Risk evaluation. - Computational fluid dynamics, RANS and LES. - Safety aspects of nuclear power plants. - Environmental impact of combustion processes. - Energy systems analysis. - Thermal application of solar energy: system modelling and monitoring.
