Organisation

Antwerp X-ray Imaging and Spectroscopy (AXIS)

Research Group

Main organisation:Department of Physics
Lifecycle:1 Sep 2021 →  Today
Organisation profile:The research group develops and uses non-invasive imaging methods of materials analysis, mostly based on X-ray fluorescence, X-ray absorption and X-ray diffraction. These methods are predominantly employed to solve problems in art conservation and art history. Next to conventional X-ray sources, also synchrotron micro- and nano X-ray beams are employed for high-resolution characterization of historical, natural and synthetic materials.
Keywords:SYNCHROTRON RADIATION, MATERIALS CHARACTERISATION, ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION, X-RAY IMAGING
Disciplines:Condensed matter physics and nanophysics, Analytical chemistry, Materials science and engineering, Semiconductor materials, Art studies and sciences, Conservation-restoration science
