Infrastructure

ELIXIR Belgium (ELIXIR-BE)

Life-science is a data science: it relies on the generation, sharing and integrated analysis of vast quantities of digital data. ELIXIR brings together international resources in life-sciences to form a single infrastructure enabling scientists to find and share data, exchange expertise and access advanced tools and large scale computational facilities.

ELIXIR Belgium has been established in 2016, with VIB as lead institute. In collaboration with its partners, which include all Flemish universities, the Belgian ELIXIR Node provides platforms and guidance for research data management and reproducible data analysis, and offers domain specific services for plant sciences and human health. The Node also provides data related training and workshops.

ELIXIR Belgium’s mission is to ensure that Belgian researchers in life sciences can focus on their research question, addressing technical details to do data management, to use compute resources for data analysis, and to access domain specific services. By providing tailored solutions based on an interoperable infrastructure across Europe, sharing of FAIR data is stimulated and enabled, thereby contributing to Open Science.
