This text points to the educational process of unfolding the essence of architectural space in novice architecture students. It compares circumstances, conditions and attempts, similarities and differences, focal points of attention and teaching practices of the seminal work of Hoesli and Rowe in Austin, Texas, 1954-'56, with the new, post-integration programme of first year architectural design courses at the University of Antwerp.
