Project

School partnerships rich in language. A study of productive interventions for home involvement.

The aim of this research and development project is therefore to identify effective strategies or programs targeted at parents from children in primary education and to concretize which critical success factors and crucial conditions are mentioned in the (international) literature as effective forms of parental involvement to promote learning in general and language acquisition in particular; which role is reserved for parents, school and external actors respectively and what we learn regarding the dynamic relationship between the different forms of parent involvement. A second objective is to make a cartography of existing practices in education in Flanders or in other similar educational systems to realize and support home involvement, how they came about, their characteristics and the roles the different actors involved take in each of these practices. Based on the insights from the literature review and the mapping, we will, as a third objective, examine how we can redesign existing practices in Flemish education and guide them towards more effective practices.
