Phosphorus recovery from wastewater: from mechanistic insights to plant-wide optimization

This research project aims to promote phosphorus recovery from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), and thus contribute to global management of this critical and finite resource. Dedicated unit processes for phosphorus transformations will be analyzed and optimized, with particular attention to recovery in the form of vivianite. The ultimate aim is to identify optimal phosphorus recovery strategies for different WWTP configurations.
