Application of morphological variation of dinoflagellate cysts as salinity proxy.

The aim of present study is to elucidate the relation between the average spine length of Operculodinium centrocarpum, the cyst of the dinoflagellate Protoceratium reticulatum and seawater salinity and to assess its usability as a salinity proxy in the Quaternary.
