PROGRASS: Polymer Recovery Optimization from industrial GRAnular Sludge Systems

Aerobic, granular sludge could overcome several downsides of traditional wastewater treatment facilities. This research will focus on the link between biopolymer production and granulation. This link will be inferred through a bottom-up approach (starting with pure/co-cultures), with a large focus on in-depth monitoring of different conditions. Additionally, the influence of different operational conditions, such as the sludge retention time and influent composition on granulation and biopolymer production will be investigated.
