Cementitious materials with photocatalytic properties to obtain self-cleaning and air-purifying activity

This research project focuses on the developement of titanium dioxide coatings on cement based materials for obtaining self-cleaning and air-purifying properties. Different coating technologies are evaluated. The photocatalytic activity of the coatings is measured by fast screening methods and laboratory scale simulation tests for algicidal activity and air pollutant photo-degradation. The weathering resistance is evaluated in laboratory and validated in situ.
