Spectroscopic gas sensors based on silicon photonics

In this project we develop a cheap, compact and energy-efficient spectroscopic gas sensors based on silicon photonics. Various methods, such as photothermal spectroscopy, will be investigated to raise the sensitivity to sub-ppm concentrations. The integration of inexpensive but very efficient broadband sources and spectrometers in the mid-infrared wavelength range will be investigated.
