Improving flood forecasting based on optimized flood mapping from radar images

Improving the prediction lead time of flood inundation models can significantly be beneficial in preventing flood damage costs as more time becomes available to inform the public and to take measures for safeguarding material. This study aims at improving flood inundation models through assimilating satellite-based flood observations.
