Sexual diversity on the small screen: A qualitative research into the representation of and public debate about LGBTs in Flemish television fiction series

This research project aims to comprehend the socio-cultural role of

lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender representations in Flemish

television fiction. It starts from a cultural media studies perspective

that argues that popular media culture is a site where hegemonic

discourses can be confirmed and contested. Specifically, the project

is interested in how media represents sexual diversity in relation to

heteronormativity.
