The social reproduction of preventive health behavior in Europe: societal transformations and fundamental social causes

New preventive health measures widen the health gradient instead of reducing it. Previous theories too narrowly focused on proximate risk factors leading to insufficient explanations. The current proposal aims to contribute to an epidemiological sociology of health inequalities by developing a new framework consisting of the interconnection between fundamental cause theory, cultural health capital theory, and diffusion of innovation theory.
