Project

In defense of the Russian langauge. Discussions on linguistic experimentation in literature in the Russian émigré community (1917-1939)

The proposed research project seeks to examine why during the interwar period linguistic experiments in Russian literature were perceived negatively by the Russian émigré communities in Europe and were replaced by a general preference for the normative language of the Russian classics of the 19th century. Interdisciplinary in scope, the project builds on literary history, literary linguistics, and philosophy of language.
