Research question : To what extent does a historically developped system of representations determine the law and the way it is interpreted? To what extent can differences between the American and French legal systems be linked to this historical-ideological dimension. To what extent is law the outcome of a dialectic between the text (statutory and/or case-law) and the cultural-ideological context?
