Combining Ray-Tracing and Fast Multipole Techniques to Model Extremely Large Electromagnetic Problems

When deploying a wireless network, planning is often based on ray-tracing. Ray-tracing is an approximation and its accuracy is difficult to assess. Exact solutions of Maxwell's equations are best obtained using boundary integral equations (BIEs) in conjunction with multilevel Fast Multipole Methods (FMM). In this Ph.D. we investigate the possibility to combine BIE-FMM with ray-tracing into a seamless solver.
