Women with a deviant survival strategy? The life courses of prostitutes in Bruges (1750-1790)

In this project the life courses of prostitutes working in Bruges between 1750 and 1790 are studied on the basis of court records, parish registers, probate inventories, etc. This allows us to add empirical evidence to the hypotheses of several historians and, hence, to contribute to the debate about the agency of prostitutes and their place within society.
