‘(Re)writing the Machine: Modernism, Technology, Gender’

This project researches the relation between literature and technology in the works of three early twentieth-century British women writers: Mina Loy, Nancy Cunard and Bryher. If the modernist technological project is often linked to a male aesthetics of violence and war, these female writers engaged with technology to imagine more equal and inclusive forms of society.
