Influence of sex steroids on psychosexual function: a prospective intervention study

Context: Transsexual persons undergo extreme changes in gonadal hormone concentrations, with possible impact on psychological and sexual functioning.

Objective: Determine differential effects of androgens and estrogens on psychological and sexual function.

Design: Prospective intervention study in transsexual persons.

Methods: Standardised questionnaires measuring psychosexual functioning. Objective sexual arousal measured by fMRI. Hormone measurements by LCMS-MS.
