Investigation of the spermfactor phospholipase C zeta associated with failed fertilization

Failed fertilisation following intracytoplasmic sperm injection is mainly due to an oocyte activation defect. The sperm-specific phospholipase C zeta is the responsible factor. Its localisation, expression and genetics will be studied in activation deficient sperm. Furthermore we will create a knock-out mouse model for this factor, test different artificial oocyte stimulation ways and subsequently use these in human oocytes.
