LIAS Junior Fellowship Programme

With a view to spending the resources within the mobility component, the Leuven Institute for Advanced Study (LIAS) will create a Junior Fellows Programme.
Each semester, LIAS invites international fellows around a specific theme, which has been prepared in advance by a Metaforum working group. A Junior Fellowship Program will be started in the margins of LIAS activities. From LIAS, postdocs and young teachers from the various Una Europa universities will be invited to apply to participate as a Junior LIAS Fellow in the LIAS consultation and to participate in parallel in workshops, discussions and lectures that are held in the margins of the thematic LIAS event for the Junior LIAS Fellows. With the input of young researchers, LIAS hopes not only to update the consultation among the top researchers, but also to make it more dynamic based on the questions and ideas that the young researchers pose. At the same time, LIAS wants to give the young researchers the opportunity to get acquainted and enter into a dialogue with the top researchers. LIAS wants to stimulate this mutual dialogue not only through formal but also through informal meetings (during cultural events, communal dinners, coffee breaks and the like).
Each semester LIAS wants to appoint five junior fellows for whom LIAS will reimburse the travel and accommodation expenses with the resources made available by the Flemish Government.

The following themes will be discussed: Societal aspects of climate change, Reporting and AI, The consequences of an aging population, Migration/
