Project

Boost energy production of PV systems in suboptimal environments

The objective of this work will be the examination of ways to increase the energy production from PV systems via experimental results. Using state-of-the-art technologies, protocols will be developed for simple, reliable, and scalable PV measurement systems. Based on the collected data from the measurements, the software will be developed to support the operator/researcher and ensure the system's high efficiency. The features of this software will be online real-time visualization, periodically reporting according to the needs/interests of the operator, AI tools to indicate system malfunctions, as well as a maintenance notification system to support the scheduling. On top of this, several experiments will be developed aiming to study several PV energy-boosting concepts. Those will include the effect of hydrophobic nanomaterial covering PV surfaces, the study of bifacial vertical PV panels(BVPV) and their efficiency via comparing their energy yield with other experiments, and the development of PV thermal models.
