Project

Driving simulator study into the safety effects of the placement of a wind turbine in a motorway interchange (R-12636)

The services include the set-up, execution and processing of a simulator study that examines the effects on traffic behavior and subsequently the effects on traffic safety as a result of the (planned) installation of a medium sized wind turbine in the middle of an entry and exit complex of a freeway. The research focuses in the first place on the expected effects at the research location but will, based on the findings, also go into possible concrete compensating measures at the research location and formulate recommendations for future projects in which the placement of windmills in entrance/exit complexes or junctions of freeways is considered. In addition, a literature study should be carried out, focused on the distance between the blades and the freeway and some policy recommendations should be made in this context
