Emission monitoring at dairy houses: applicability in practice and as a ‘license to produce’

This PhD-research is part of the Dairymix-project: 'Multi-criteria assessment, decision support and management tools for sustainable circular mixed farming systems for dairy production'. ILVO is a partner in this international project and will focus on two tasks: the further development of cost-efficient monitoring systems for barn climate and emissions and the development of a concept for a EU-wide emission database. The PhD-research linked with these tasks will focus on the improvement of low-cost emission measurement with data science, machine learning and mechanistic modelling as well as adressing technical aspects of low-cost sensors. In addition a conceptual vision of an emission database will be developed where we will address the potential for practical applications and the potential impacts for the agriculural sector.
