Genetic Risk in Alzheimer's disease

A series of novel genes have been identified and linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Several of these genes are mainly expressed in microglia. In this project we will investigate how these microglia specific genes affect brain inflammation, neurotoxicity and amyloid beta aggregation and we will study how these genes interact with each other. We will use CRISPR/CAS gene editing, human stem cells and engrafted mouse models.
