Regenerative Spatial Dramaturgies

Spatial dramaturgy is both a methodology - in which I situate my practice - and an interdisciplinary field - through which I move. It enables me to queer my own position as a spatial designer, through encounters and explorations in performance, scenography, visual arts and artistic research. This proposal, Regenerative Spatial Dramaturgies, unravels the existing hegemony of relationships through a range of scripting methods, so we can understand how every micro-action in the production of space, un-does an architecture in which co-constitution can exist. Through my practice-led PhD studies, I seek to extend my research into queer, feminist and new-materialist perspectives on architecture, these being necessary contributions to a growing field of what we call ‘regenerative spatial design’. The potential of spatial dramaturgy lies exactly in offering a radical, transdiciplinary and multi-vocal view on architectural design. I see my work and research as an urgent contribution to open up the potential of architecture - the metaphorical ‘house’ - as a critical and above all regenerative spatial practice.
