International Computer and Information Literacy Study 2023 in Flanders (ICILS2023)

ICILS 2023 is an international comparative study, initiated by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA). KU Leuven and UGent are pooling their experience, substantive and methodological expertise to carry out the Flemish participation in the International Computer and Information Literacy Study 2023. First, the correct follow-up of the international guidelines, maximizing the response and optimizing the digital purchase are central. This is followed by an extensive report on the learning performance with regard to information literacy and digital skills (CIL) and computational thinking (CT) of students of the first stage of secondary education in Flanders, with a focus on correlations at system, school, classroom and student level. The research ensures relevance to policy and practice through the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods for the study of teachers' teaching practices and Content Knowledge (CK) about CIL and CT, the input of a resonance group consisting of researchers and experiential experts as well as various valorisation initiatives.
