Project

Development of a standard methodology for determining soil biodiversity in Flanders

Research project in phases in which: (1) the current knowledge of taxonomic, functional and genetic biodiversity of the soil (all land uses) is synthesized, (2) the centres of expertise in Flanders, Wallonia, the Netherlands and France are listed and described, (3) in cooperation with ALBON, a policy support expert group is set up which selects the most appropriate standard methods and biodiversity indicators for Flanders, (4) a technical manual is drawn up for these selected methods and indicators (5) this manual is tested, optimised and validated through ongoing or new research projects, (6) the biodiversity data are structurally stored in the INBOdem and DOV databases and (7) the validated manual is published, promoted and systematically implemented for determining soil biodiversity in Flanders.
