Shallow 3D geological layer and voxel model of Antwerp region version 1.1

Book - Report

The subsurface offers many opportunities for answering sustainable energy questions, and questions related to groundwater, climate adaptation, land use and reuse of materials. Flemish government, Department of Environment, Flemish Planning Office (VPO) ordered a shallow geological model with focus on the urban region of Antwerp and a part of its harbor. The objective was to investigate to what extent and in what detail the shallow subsurface beneath the urban fabric can be mapped but also to provide insight into the type of soils that will be released by, among others, the construction of the Second Tidal Dock or 'Boemerangdok'. This model is a test case for future modeling of urban subsurface.
