Benchmarking kidney transplantation

No standard outcome measures for quality assessment in deceased donor kidney transplantation are available and therefore the best results achievable with kidney transplantation are not known. Using results from high volume centers offers the opportunity to define benchmark criteria for best attainable outcomes.

To conduct a multicenter cohort study defining benchmark criteria for best achievable outcomes in kidney transplantation in order to enable comparative quality assessment. The benchmark criteria will be derived from postoperative mortality and morbidity as well as graft function and survival.
