Sabbatical Mark Delaere: Writing of a book on the music of Karel Goeyvaerts

About 30% of my research (publications, projects, doctorates) is focused on the music of
Karel Goeyvaerts, without doubt the most important Flemish composer of contemporary music from the second half of the last century. He was one of the founders of serial and electronic music, and has thus transformed European post-war music.
Numerous articles and book chapters have been published about Goeyvaerts, but a scientific monograph that analyzes the whole of his oeuvre has been lacking until now. A sabbatical gives me the opportunity to fill this gap. The implementation is done in phases:
1. Study of Goeyvaerts' compositions that I have not yet analyzed (about 40% of his oeuvre: 36 compositions). All scores are in MATRIX (Artes library), all sketches and manuscripts in the Goeyvaerts-Archief (University Archives). This first phase will therefore be carried out in Leuven.
2. Editing, translation and revision of the monograph, somewhere far away in seclusion
