Project

Networking European poultry actors for enhancing the compliance of biosecurity measures for asustainable production (NETPOULSAFE)

Main research question/goal

The emergence of antibiotic resistance in the poultry sector may pose a threat to both animal and public health. This project aims to improve compliance with biosecurity standards through a holistic and multi-actor approach to the European poultry production chain, taking into account all dimensions of the production chain (public safety, economy, environment), at multiple scales (local, regional, national and international).  The increasing importance of new sustainable value systems means that farmers are looking for new ways to produce.

Research approach

The NETPOULSAFE project creates a common network around a new common vision of biosafety and compliance with it. We collect, synthesize and disseminate (bottom-up knowledge transfer) useful information and disseminate the (positive) feedback of the supportive measures implemented by poultry stakeholders to support biosecurity compliance (top-down and peer-to-peer knowledge transfer).

Relevance/Valorisation

With NETPOULSAFE we expect more easily accessible practical knowledge on the chosen thematic area, including as many "practical summaries" as possible in the common EIP-AGRI format and also audiovisual material. The practical knowledge will be kept for the long term - beyond the project period. The information flow between livestock farmers in Europe increases, in a geographically balanced way. Spill-overs are created and we take into account the differences between areas. We expect a greater acceptance of the collected knowledge and innovations by the stakeholders.
