Project

Integrated control of psoroptic mange in Belgian Blue beef cattle

This project aims to enable integrated mange control in cattle by (1) validating a haplotype for mange susceptibility; (2) documenting the evolution of macrocyclic lactone resistance in Psoroptes ovis mites; (3) investigating whether the mechanisms of resistance are conserved between mite
populations; (4) testing whether flumethrin is effective in ML-resistant mite populations and (5) developing an alternative treatment with carvacrol.
