Project

Research and the development of the pedagogical content knowledge of teachers in training, teachers and teacher educators PAV

High expectations are rightly placed on the school subject of 'Project General Subjects' PAV, but they are not easily met. This project addresses these by developing: 1) modules to support the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of students, teachers and teacher trainers PAV on Flemish Qualification Level (VKS) 6-7 in order to design functional, powerful and integrated learning environments; 2) modules in function of the acquisition of the necessary domain knowledge for each key competence from PAV; and 3) a hands-on toolkit to support PAV practice and a rubric to systematically assess the quality of PAV learning environments. The development will be based on a structured literature review and a systematic (initial) analysis (via questionnaires, observations and interviews) of 1) the educational views on PAV among the aforementioned target groups, 2) their current design of PAV learning environments, and 3) their (P)CK PAV. Modules, rubric and toolkit will then be empirically validated and optimized through an action research project in which the target groups will work together in professional learning communities. This (documented and analyzed) process also immediately realizes an intensive professionalization process aimed at sustainable changes in their thinking and actions. On the basis of the above, blended training and professionalization paths (including initial guidance) are drawn up and organizationally prepared. They are inspired by innovative ICT applications and digital didactics, have a modular design, are supply oriented, to be usable ond emand, and are accompanied by a robust certification.   The project explicitly opts for a regional experimental setting in which all relevant players (teacher training programs, professionalization organizations, research institutions and schools) are represented, and for collaboration and dialogue between teacher training programs and teachers at VKS 6-7. In addition, the project distinguishes itself by explicitly focusing on the professionalization of teacher trainers PAV and the development and documentation of an innovative training didactics in PAV. After all, teacher trainers are a crucial link in the quality of the PAV educational chain. From here, the project aims to create a sustainable embedment and network, and seeks a Flanders-wide dissemination.
