Project

Regulation of food uptake and protein digestion in insects as new strategies to control important pest insects in agriculture.

In an effort to identify novel strategies to control the agricultural pest insect Leptinotarsa decemlineata, this research focusses on the role of N-glycosylation in the function and structure of the insect midgut and peritrophic matrix. Through RNA-interference and proteome analysis, the role of Nglycosylation related genes on the structure of microvilli and the PM is studied.
