Russula subgenus Compactae s. Sarnari in Europe : stop black-and-white thinking.
Russula subgenus Compactae is a polyphyletic group of atypical black-an-white russulas, several clades of which show a huge cryptic and hence understudied diversity. Detailed morphological analyses combined with a multigene based molecular approach will lead to a general phylogeny and species delimitation. To understand the evolution of this group of ectomycorrhizal fungi, ecological data are also analyzed.
