PROROB-ICON: VR/AR based robot trajectory programming (R-10900)

The overall goal of the project is to create an intuitive, easy to use, and fast robot programing environment, based on VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), MR (Mixed Reality), or their combination that will serve fast and accurate programming of industrial robots in a flexible manufacturing plant for low volume and high variability production. Compared to the current robots programming methods, our innovative VR/AR/MR robots programming environment will mainly target: (1) decreasing production down time by 95%, (2) decreasing robots programming time by 50%, (3) decreasing the level of robots programming complexity such that a trained production operator can perform the programming task. Furthermore, the envisioned VR/AR/MR environment will be modular that it can optionally be easily interfaced into existing programming tools (OLP, teach pad), taking advantage of their existing relevant features, and opening possibilities of improving their inputs and outputs interfaces towards the users.
