Development of a scanning PIV technique for 3D characterization of flows in microchannels

Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution

A novel scanning PIV technique is proposed. Three dimensional information is acquired by oscillating the target sample over a fixed focal plane. In this contribution we describe the experimental setup and we study the performance of the technique by reconstructing two-dimensional profiles of typical Hagen-Poiseuille pressure driven flows for 0.5-1 μm particles. The technique is then applied to reconstruct the 3D trajectory of a 5 μm particle in an acoustic flow.
