Project

Exercise cardiac imaging as a cornerstone of personal treatment options for patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

The PhD project will include (at least) two projects: 1. In the PRIORITY study, we aim to provide the clinical evidence base for the use of new hybrid exercise intervention including remotely guided home-based exercise therapy as an accessible, clinical and cost-effective treatment to prevent the deleterious effects of sedentary aging on the heart and forestall the development and progression of HFpEF. 2. In the ExCMR-HFpEF study, we aim to evaluate the feasibility and prognostic value of right ventricular-arterial coupling (RVAC) during exercise in patients with HFpEF-PH. We will use a hybrid technique of real-time CMR (cardiac magnetic resonance) derived volume measurements and CardioMEMS-derived pulmonary arterial pressure measurement.
