Project

Yield increase through controlled far-red lighting in the cultivation of tomatoes, cucumbers and leafy vegetables (LED-FR). (LedFR)

The goal of this project is to increase the yield for the current light strategies in the crops tomato, cucumber and lettuce. This will be done by the optimalisation of the lightquality using far-red lighting. This will be reached by completing the following goals:
- Better plant development using the effect of far-red lighting- Optimized spectra by determination of ideal intensities, R/FR ratios and dynamic application of far-red lighting- Optimized lighting strategies for crop steering
This will result in a higher productivity and better crop quality. This will have a direct economic impact that will stimulate innovations in the entire sector. Moreover, this project will create important spill-over effects for other lighted crops that can benefit from the results of this project.
