Harnessing capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool in cybersecurity; and security challenges of AI systems

Nowadays, in the information age and with the advent of new technologies, cybersecurity has become an important challenge for data management. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a key role in different fields and using AI as a tool to meet the needs of cybersecurity seems necessary. However, it is still in the early stage in the field of cybersecurity. Based on the mentioned issue, in this Ph.D. thesis, our long-term goal is harnessing the capabilities of AI systems to defend computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data against malicious attacks. To achieve this goal, first by attacking confidentiality, integrity, and privacy of mentioned systems, the behavior of these systems will be understood, and then by proposing countermeasures, we would have secure systems. Also, our second line of research is possibility of attacking and improving the security of AI systems, so we would look at the security of AI systems. By recognizing vulnerabilities, we would propose countermeasures against these attacks in AI systems. Also, we will make our efforts to improve security and efficiency of AI systems.
