Prevalentie van sexting bij Vlaamse jongeren

Journal Contribution - Journal Article

Subtitle:een verkennende studie
Sexting, the exchange of sexually explicit textual or visual messages through ICT, comes with significant risks for its creator and can affect the school climate. This paper discusses why youth engage in sexting, its possible consequences and its correlation with other risk behavior. Furthermore, the findings from international studies are complemented by results from an exploratory study on the prevalence and the motives of sexting amongst 357 Flemish adolescents aged 15 to 21 years. The results show that different forms of sexting behavior are a part of the daily life of the respondents. Based on these results, implications for prevention- and intervention campaigns about sexting are discussed.
