Project

International Photonics Access and Research Center (iPARC@VUB) (OZRMETH4)

The main objective is to enable the assembly and integration of optical and optoelectronic components with micro-electronic, micro-electronic-mechanic, and micro-fluidic components. As such it will be possible to engineer photonics-enhanced micro-systems that feature novel functionalities and that can be made available to everyone at low cost. These photonic microsystems can then support a variety of research domains, be deployed in inter-disciplinary research, or supply newly-opened economic markets. It is in this 'more than Moore' framework that the current micro-photonics project proposal is situated.
