LPI - KU Leuven Plant Institute

The KU Leuven Plant Institute brings together all plant-related research at KU Leuven, from molecule to ecosystem and from test tube to field. It creates a stimulating interdisciplinary community for discovery, training and outreach to fully appreciate and use the potential of plants and plant-based products for a sustainable future. The institute will define strategic research lines and associated opportunities (for multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration, funding and valorization) and coordinate and optimize state-of-the-art resources, infrastructure and expert support. In addition, the institute aims to increase the visibility of plant research at KU Leuven, will function as a central point of contact (for KU Leuven colleagues as well as the broader scientific community, policy makers, industry, press and the broader public), and will actively contribute to the public debate with expert information and clear, substantiated and nuanced points of view. As a member of the executive board, the LPI manager (with incubation funding) will will be responsible for the institute’s daily operations and organization, active networking for the identification of needs and opportunities, and the execution of an elaborate action plant to reach the goals defined above.
