A Loop System for Amine-based CO2 Capture and Mineral Carbonation

Nowadays, with the large consumption coal and gas in fossil fuel-based operation such as electricity plants, the carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere are continuously rising. In order to meet the necessary requirement of CO2 capturing to ensure a low impact in the environment, mineral carbonation represents a promising technology that allows fixating CO2 as stable geochemically mineral carbonate. The project aims to investigate a novel technology to let CO2 reacting with metal ions of calcium and lithium, leading to an efficient process for CO2 capture and the production of precipitated calcium and lithium carbonate.
