Techno-economical assessment of vehicle-to-grid in a microgrid: Case study

Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution

Vehicle-to-grid is a promising solution to help integrate renewable energy sources into the electricity grid. This study focuses on microgrids using long-term parking lots and assesses the economical impact of changing an existing parking lot with internal combustion cars to a parking lot with electric vehicles and bi-directional chargers. In addition, it answers the questions on how many chargers should be installed and at what power. In order to fulfill this task, an energy management system, a parking pattern and a control strategy are developed and simulated. The results show that several parameters have strong impacts on an economical aspect for the microgrid’s owner, such as the price of the chargers, the available capacity per car and the price of electricity
