The impact of legislative amendments on reporting and governance (R-11524)

This PhD is based on the central research question "What impact does the insolvency legislation have on entrepreneurship and to what extent can it affect the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem?". With this question we want to investigate to what extent a change in the insolvency legislation can disrupt the entire ecosystem, resulting in potential unexpected and undesired outcomes, even for entrepreneurship itself. Former studies mainly examined the (direct) effect of insolvency legislation on entrepreneurship in isolation, so not taking into account potential counterbalancing effects of other stakeholders. Since entrepreneurship is affected by more than just the entrepreneur itself, all aspects and stakeholders that make entrepreneurship possible should be taken into account. In this PhD we will fill this gap, by taking the entire ecosystem into account when assessing the effectiveness of an insolvency law on entrepreneurship.
