Multi-functional on-campus 5G test network for emerging applications

The equipment concerns an experimental (stand alone) 5G network consisting of a radio access network (two base stations) and a core network. In general, it is a fully functional private 5G network that can be used for (end-to-end) measurements and system modeling. We target such emerging applications as 5G connected UAV, edge-computing-aided autonomous navigation, AI-based resource allocation and network management. Moreover, the setup flexibility allows for performing optimization and design tasks on the real commercial equipment. Apart from the telecom applications, the equipment can be used for estimating the coexistence with other technologies (satellite TV, Vehicular networks), designing a passive radar, and exposure measurements (as the signal source). Additionally, the private 5G network can be used for real-life demonstrations that will increase the efficiency of valorisation activities.
