Qualty of the Summarized Electronic Health Record (Sumehr) (SUMEHR)

Summarised Electronic Health Record (Sumehr) is a limited dataset in the form of a Kind messages for electronic healthcare record (Kmehr) and is used for the exchange of medical information. This dataset is intended to transmit essential information regarding the patient's medical condition to a physician upon initial contact. This in order to be able to make a correct estimate faster and to better guarantee continuity of care. This is important, among other things, during out-of-hours care provided by GPs. In 2005 the Sumehr was introduced by the Belgian government. The system was effectively operational from 2009 and since 2014 it has been integrated into various electronic software packages of doctors. Today it is supported by almost every Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of the physicians and allows to export custom Sumehr messages for a patient. However, there is insufficient insight into the quality of the Sumehr. In this research project, in a first work package, the quality of Sumehr is qualitatively examined at out-of-hours GP posts. In a second work package, the quality of the Sumehr is quantitatively investigated in the Intego registration network. In a third work package, a training package is developed to improve the quality of the Sumehr. This project is a collaboration between KU Leuven, UAntwerpen and Domus Medica.
